The basis of our faith Pt. 2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Christ is the originator/chief leader and the completer/consummater of our faith. The Christian faith is reliance, absolute dependence on the finished work of Christ. Our faith is predicated upon the fact that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and was buried. He then rose from the dead, resurrected from the dead, ascended into the heavens and He is now glorified, and also that His redemptive works satisfied divine justice and gave us absolute freedom from Satan, sin, poverty, separation from God and the likes. On CHRIST the solid rock I stand, all other grounds are sinking sands. It is critical that believers in Christ must know what their faith is resting on.
1 Corinthians 2:5″That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” Paul the apostle made a very profound statement here. Paul prayed for the Corinthian believers that their faith should not stand in the wisdom of men. Any faith that stands on the wisdom of men is NO FAITH. It was clear that when Paul was making this prayer, the faith of many were standing on the wisdom of men. No man did ANYTHING to pay for your salvation.
The best of men are still men at the very best. Any man that is trying to use his wisdom to add to what Christ has done is putting the lives of his followers on the sinking sand. Do not let any general overseer deceive you. Christ is the basis of our faith and what Christ did for us is absolute, no one can add or subtract from it. The grace of God is not cheap, it is FREE. The day you pay for the grace of God it is no longer grace but works.
Any church denomination or general overseer that suggests to you that the finished work of Christ is not sufficient, instead you have to do something to provoke God, that church or general overseer is not establishing you in the faith, rather they are trying to make you to stand in their own wisdom. You do not have to do anything to merit the grace of God. While you were still enemies of God, Christ died for you. If you are taught that after you are born again, you still need to go for deliverance, again this is the wisdom of men.
Scriptures says in 1Peter 2:9, …we have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness and translated INTO the kingdom of His dear son. The finished work of Christ gave us absolute deliverance. Friends, your faith must depend on the finished work of Christ.
