WINGS OF UNITY

FEBRUARY15|MONDAY
BIBLE READING|EPHESIANS 4:1-6

I, therefore, the prisoner [a]of the Lord, [b]beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in [c]you all.

God moves mightily in the atmosphere of unity. To walk worthy of the Christian life and service is a call to displaying the virtues, or
expressing the brotherhood of believers. That is why Apostle Paul enjoins
the Christians to endeavour to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of
peace. The keeping of Christian bond requires the participation of all
believers.

Paul declares in the text above, the basis of Christian unity: One body, One
spirit, One hope, One Lord, One faith, One baptism, One God, and Father
of all (vv. 4-6). The emphasis is on the word, ‘one.’ If we are to keep the
blessings reserved for us in heavenly places in Christ, we must walk as one,
indivisible, and united force. The Holy Spirit does not dwell where there is
division, acrimony, backbiting, backstabbing and blackmailing. You won’t
find the Holy Spirit working in such places where these abide.

Therefore, if we want God to be happy with us and our churches, we must
walk in unity. The gospel message will fly high if we make it to ride on the
wings of unity. Everyone has the duty to create the atmosphere of unity. Whether we come together in prayer, praise, worship, evangelism, mission
or communion, let us remember the fact that unity is the bedrock upon
which whatever we do should stand.

PRAYER: Lord help me to keep the bond of unity of the Christian faith.
