8 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ”
10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

In today’s bible reading, Moses and Aaron appeared before Pharaoh to state their mission. God told them to take their rod and cast it before Pharaoh.
For Moses, his credential was the rod. Moses’ rod became a serpent and when the wise men, sorcerers and magician of Egypt tried to do the same, Moses’ rod swallowed up the Egyptians rods.

This is a case of saying that ‘power pass power.
Oftentimes, as Christians and ministers, we are confronted with the challenge to prove our credential – to prove the source of our authority and to prove the efficacy of the faith we profess.
For us today as Christians, it is the name of Jesus Christ that is our credential. We must always take with us the name of Jesus to wherever we go.
The Bible says the name of Jesus is above all names and at the mention of the name of Jesus every knee shall, and must bow to that precious name – Phil. 2:9-10.
At the mention of the name of Jesus Christ, sickness, disease, infirmity, misfortune, defeat, poverty, fear, barrenness, demons and every power that limits our victory and achievement have no choice, but to bow.

Is it not a contradiction then when some Christians quake in the presence of evil powers? Those who know their God shall be strong and shall do exploits. Stop disgracing heaven. Let the world know that you are sure of what you have – the name of Jesus.

PRAYER: Father help me to know the source of my authority.
