BIBLE READING|GENESIS 39:7-12
Sin may look enjoyable to man but at the end it stings and stinks. Many people either do not know the consequences of sin or they just dare the repercussion. Else, how do we explain why people today decide to commit sin with reckless abandon?
Compromise with sin comes at a very great consequence for the sinner. Adam and Eve did sin in the Garden of Eden, and today, all the evils that sin brings is following humanity. The wages of sin is death and this consequence can only be averted by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ – Romans 6:23.
Joseph as a slave and serving in the house of Potiphar in Egypt had everything going well for him until he was dared by sin. Due to his faith in God and pious life, his prosperity was visible in the house of his Egyptian master. Prosperity is not just determined by how much you have in your bank account or material possessions. Joseph was a slave, yet the Bible says he was a prosperous man. Satan stirred up the heart of Potiphar’s wife and attempted several times to lure Joseph into sin. The devil oftentimes does not easily give up on those he intends to make his victims.
That is why the Bible says we should submit to God and resist him – James 4:7. Why did Joseph rebuff the love advances of Mrs. Potiphar? He had the fear of God – the beginning of wisdom that will lead to victorious living. He knew the result of compromise with sin. He knew sin will jeopardise his destiny. Do you compromise with sin? Joseph had resounding victory over sin! You can also have victory.
PRAYER: Father Lord, the grace not to compromise with sin and evil in life, grant onto me.
