Our stand of faith Pt. 11

Contending for the faith Pt. 9

What does Jesus mean by ” have faith in God ” Pt1

Mark 11:22
"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God."

I want to bring your attention to something very crucial that happened in the life of Jesus Christ as it relates to faith in God. Jesus had cursed a fig tree on their way to Jerusalem and the disciples heard it. By the next day while they were returning, Peter called Jesus’ attention to the fact that the fig tree is dried up. The next thing Jesus said unto them is, have faith in God. Jesus Christ clearly removed their attention from what happened and redirected their attention to God. What does Jesus mean by “have faith in God”? What Jesus Christ was saying is that if you have faith in God, then you can exercise your faith by commanding the mountains to move and they will obey you.

What is faith in God and how do I get faith in God?
The first meaning of faith in God is confidence that God exists. Hebrews 11:6, 7, PS 14:1, Rom 1:18 -23. God is not amorphous, God is not an atmosphere neither is God a wind. God is not just a deity but He is our father. Therefore our faith must rest on the God that is real, tangible and existent. To doubt the existence of God is to be faithless. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he that comes to God must believe that He IS…. It is sad to see many people put their faith on their family name, their education, their wealth, idols etc. But Jesus asked his disciples to have faith in God. Do you truly have faith in God?

Faith is trust, reliance, confidence or belief in God. Faith is different from positive confession. Positive confession is a school of thought in philosophy called positivism. To be a positivist does not make you have faith in God. To have a positive attitude about life despite your prevailing challenges does not mean you have faith in God. Faith in God is believing in the existence of God, believing that God hears prayers, believing that God is able to meet you at the point of your need, believing that God is your father and not just a deity far away in heaven. The apostle Paul admonished the Corinthian church not to put their trust in men but that their faith should rest in the power of God. Our faith must rest on God not as a cliché, but as a tangible reality that governs our faith. Have faith in God.
