THE FATHER’S BUSINESS

MARCH 25|THURSDAY
BIBLE READING|LUKE 2:40-52

At twelve years old, Jesus asked his parents this question: “…don’t you know I must be about my father’s business? – vs. 49. Are we doing the things our Father wants us to do? Our spiritual connection with the Lord determines who we are, the enlightenment we’ll receive and the quality of life we can live. This connection is directly affected by how actively we seek to be about our Father’s business.

“The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he advanced in wisdom, age, and grace with God and with humankind” – vs. 52. Jesus continually received the benefits of being about His Father’s business – increasing in
wisdom and grace with God. He was twelve years old when He sat and taught in the Temple in the midst of the scholars, and all who heard Him where astounded at His insightful answers – vs. 46. Even at His young age,
Jesus knew what he was here to do and He was unstoppable. In just a few years He would share with everyone the divine plan laid out for Him. He would read and say these words in a Jerusalem synagogue from the book of
Isaiah.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of the sight to the blind…….And He began to say to them, “today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” – Luke 4:18-21.

Despite the size of the task, we hear Him speak with poise and surety.

PRAYER: Father help me to know and understand your calling in my life and pursue it with all zeal.
