BIBLE READING|JAMES 1:21-27
Being unspotted from the world is so well explained within the book of James. “Lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness.” – vs. 21. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” – James 4:7-8. To keep yourself unspotted from the world, you must lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness. You must covet purity of heart and clean hands. This is all about personal choices, repentance and determination to be free from all sin and error by the grace and strength of God through His Holy Spirit working in you.
Paul admonishes Christians not to participate in the works of the flesh. “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambition, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God,” – Gal. 5:19-21. You must engage the word of God to monitor your heart. You must guard your heart with all diligence and ponder the path of your feet – Proverbs 4:23, 26.
If you fail to keep yourself unspotted from the world, your many activities in the church – giving, eloquence in sermon delivery, titles and status will profit you nothing. This is the truth! Therefore, where do you stand at this moment?
PRAYER: Lord help me to keep myself unspotted from the world.
