The fulfilled family is characterized by order and discipline under God. God Himself in His Word has set forth the order that characterizes a fulfilled family.
All through the traditional ages, many men have lived in wicked tyranny over their wives. Across many nations and Agencies, concerted arguments have been put forward by the secular humanists and the new age movement to overturn the order of God for the home as enunciated in the Bible, the only basis on which man’s eternity will be determined. In the Christian home, the bible defines the relationship between the husband and wife. There, the husband loves the wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. The wife on the other hand submits to the leadership of the husband, not as inferior but as a help meet, complimenting his shortcomings. There is mutual submission in the spirit of each one preferring the other (Philippians 2:3-4) in love. The husband leads his home in love and for the good of his family. He leads and guides the family in the way of righteousness and truth.
Children in the family are taught to honour their parents (Ephesians 6:1-4) for there is a blessing that goes with it. The fulfilled family is not a place where one finds riotous and ungodly lifestyle. There is contentment and satisfaction with whatever the Lord has given, and members are willing to give and sacrifice for the needy and the work of God.
In the centre of a fulfilled family stands the altar of the Lord. The prayers that are prayed there are sincere, genuine and proceed from the heart. The fulfilled family is characterized by trust in the Lord (see Psalms 128).
PRAYER: Lord help our families to fulfill your purpose on earth.
