GODLY BEHAVIOUR

MAY 5|WEDNESDAY
BIBLE READING|ROMANS 12:1-3

Taking time to ask how your behaviour and appearance are perceived by others is an important part of the Christian walk. Everything a Christian does influences what people think of Christians and their Jesus. You are made in God’s image, and therefore, you are His representative that people who don’t know God see. Your behaviour is part of demonstrating your relationship with Him. Matthew 5:16 puts it this way: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

God expects the Christian family to live by a higher standard of character and outlook because they are the representatives of God on earth. God expects us to be examples of Christ, rather than living by the world’s
standards. So, “Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy” – Romans 13:13.

One of the greatest witnesses to non-believers is for the Christian to set godly examples in our talk and walk. Believers exemplifying godly behaviour is a powerful representation of God’s love, and preaching the gospel without much talking or shouting. The Christian’s actions must speak louder than his voice. Apostle Paul exhorts: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will.” – vs. 2.

In what ways can you show godly character in your neighbourhood or workplace?
