The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church. When this will happen is the prerogative of God. While we wait for this glorious event, believers in Christ are enjoined to occupy for the Master – Luke 19:13. The Early Church was committed to serving God faithfully and selflessly – they grew in faith, in fellowship and in ministry (Acts 5:12-
14). Such is the commitment we are called to make as members of the household of faith. We are to serve God with our spirit, soul and body.

Apostle Paul commended the brethren at Colosse for their steadfastness and encouraged them to continue to walk in faith and in the footstep of Christ – the spiritual foundation of our faith. Standing firm in the faith is the antidote to overcoming the wickedness and evil of our time (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

The world is passing away with its lust and it is those who do the will of God that will triumph. There is nothing in this world that is worth holding on to when compared with the glorious future awaiting us as saints (Revelation
21:1-4). We must always remind ourselves that we are pilgrims on earth. We have all been called to fight a good fight of faith, so, let us fight to win. Achieving this requires that we lay aside every weight (Hebrews 12:1), keep our focus on Christ (Acts 7:55, 56) and remain committed to serving Him at all time.

What are some of the things you could do to encourage fellow believers to stand firm in their faith?

PRAYER: Dear Lord, please help me to hold on till the end in Jesus name.
