BIBLE READING|ROMANS 4:1-3, 18-24
Many people in employment look forward to a time of reward for service rendered. Beyond what we can get in this world, the scripture tells us that as believers in Christ, there are great blessings available to us in this world and in eternity with God (Mark 10:28-30). That is why we need to hold our confidence in God till the end as we serve in His
vineyard (Heb. 10:36, 37). Earthly Supervisors may not fully appreciate or reward our services but God who is faithful, fair and just will do.
Abraham is an example. He was faithful and steadfast in his walk with God, and service to God and at the end, he was greatly rewarded. At 75years of age, God called him out of his native land in Haran to go to a land He would show him. God also promised to make a great nation out of Abraham. In faith and obedience, Abraham departed (Genesis 12:1-4). For Abraham, it was a long walk to fulfilment. It was when he became 100years old that the promised son (Isaac) was born to him (Genesis 21:1-5). Romans 4:20-21 says, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” God surely rewards steadfastness.
What is your service to God and to the household of faith? In what ways are you imparting your community? You will be rewarded by God if you faint not (Galatians 6:9). When discouraged in service, be motivated by 1 Corinthians 15:58. God owes no man nothing.
PRAYER: Father Lord, hold me steadfast to the end so I don’t lose my reward.
