BIBLE READING|HEBREWS 4:12; PSALM 119:9-16
Kings and rulers exercise various degrees of power and authority. Their words are taken seriously and those who dare them could face consequences – Ecclesiastes 8:4.
Word is a powerful instrument of expression and with it we can attain peace or war, success or defeat, and that is why the scripture warns against its wrong use. The vegetation, the seas, rocks, the reptiles, the animals, birds, the skyline – the beauty they radiate all came into existence through the power of the word – the word of God (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14).
The word of God is power (Hebrews 1:3; 4:2) but unfortunately many people do not relate with it that way. People who are diabolical or operate in the occult world understand the efficacy of words and that is why they exploit it to their advantage.
As God’s people, we have been vested with power and one way by which we are to demonstrate it, is by speaking the word of God – which is spirit and life (John 6:63). The word of God is one of the weapons we have been
given to fight in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:10-12, 17).
Jesus effectively used it in His ministry on earth – to overcome the tempter (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10); to calm the stormy sea (Mark 4:35-39); to heal (Luke 17:11-14). As we go on in life, and when we are faced with challenges, some of which threaten our faith in God, the word of God becomes our defense. You cannot release the word of power unless it is stored in the heart – Joshua 1:8; Colossians 3:16. How much time do you regularly devote to the word of God? The more of the word in us, the more of the power of God we will demonstrate.
PRAYER: Father Lord, help me to boldly speak and declare your word as and when occasion demands.
