THE POWER OF PRAYER

MAY 21|FRIDAY
BIBLE READING|GENESIS 32:9-12, 22-32

There are moments of troubles that can make covenant children of God fear and tremble. Jacob in the story of our bible reading today found himself in such circumstances. Even though, it might be said that his past misdeeds are coming back to hunt his destiny, Jacob was humble and wise enough to have allowed his fears to drive him to his knees in prayers to God for deliverance.

In His petition for deliverance, he worshipped God by addressing Him as God of his ancestors and made confession of his unworthiness to receive the grace and mercies of this loving Father. He proceeded to make an express, specific request laced with great faith, fervency and humility to God. Deliver me from the hand of my brother, and indeed God answered this prayer beyond his wildest imagination. The power of prayer gave him the honour of being an Israel, meaning ‘Prince with God’.

What is ailing your heart as a child of God? As a covenant child there are numerous promises of God to tap into at crucial moments of trouble. Rather than being nervous and anxious, worship the Almighty God, give Him praise and call out to Him fervently for His deliverance and divine intervention over your matter.

Remember that you have a high priest – Jesus Christ, who can be touched by the feelings of your infirmities – Heb. 4:15-16. Reach out boldly this day to the ever-flowing throne of grace where mercy and help are available for
your great deliverance. Your enemies will embrace and favour you today in Jesus name.
