BIBLE READING|MATTHEW 13:44-46
The salvation provided by the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is of inestimable worth. It is priceless and a rich mine for all who discover it – Isaiah 55:1, 2. It is a treasure that is more than sufficient, a possession for which a man should disown all the riches of this world to acquire.
There are two lessons to be learnt in the bible reading of today. First, the kingdom of God is a great treasure. It can be gotten at salvation (John 1:12; 3:16). Have you put your trust in Jesus as your Saviour? If you have, congratulations! If you have not, you can do so right away by asking Him to forgive your sins and come into your heart. This gives you immediate access into the kingdom of God. Second, your life in God’s reckoning is a priceless treasure that is above anything God has made. Those who neglect this offer, or carelessly handle their salvation are like Esau, who did not
know the value of his birthright and let it go to satisfy his temporal need of food – Genesis 25:31-34.
In this kingdom, “all things are yours” – I Cor. 3:21-23, but you don’t get at them until you make a personal and deliberate effort to accept the offer, and after discovery, jealously value your portion. Salvation is a priceless treasure; you must be willing to give everything for it. This also makes you priceless!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, as I get saved by grace through faith, I depend on your grace also to guard my priceless treasure given to me.
