THE PLEASURE OF DOING AND FINISHING

JUNE 1|TUESDAY
BIBLE READING|JOHN 4:31 – 38.

When a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of an Organization assigns tasks to his Directors or Managers, he loves to see them on the job; but more importantly to deliver – show tangible outcomes. While process is critical, the finished product is of far greater priority to any serious CEO.

So when Jesus’ disciples came from the city with the food they had bought, and pleaded with him to eat, he turned down their plea and told them of another meat which was his pleasure. He further declared, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” – vs. 34,

We live in a challenging and increasingly sophisticated world; very busy and fast, with several activities, including those in the church. Do we slow down sometimes to really check if we are finishing with tangible results, especially, to see if our efforts are adding value to the lives and outlook of our neighbours and friends, in and out of church? Remember, the only thing that brings about rejoicing in heaven is a soul won! (Luke 15:10).

Jesus was not only desirous to do the will of he who sent him, but to finish the work. Are you focusing also on finishing your kingdom tasks?

PRAYER: Father Lord, give me the grace to do your will and to not only finish, but also to finish well in Jesus Name.
